Solution

An efficient supply for every clinic

The B. Braun Supply Solutions team takes action at different levels. With a holistic approach, it ensures that clinics can easily focus on their core surgical business.

Transparent communication and clear responsibilities

The resources required for this – such as sterile supplies – are made available in a functional and precise manner, and their preparation takes place as quickly as possible. Processes are simplified and made consistent throughout. Flows of goods and information are coordinated, responsibilities are clearly assigned, and sub-processes are automated. And in all of this, B. Braun stands by the customer as an experienced partner and offers each hospital an individual solution, taking into account the existing infrastructure.

The necessary material at the right place

The manufacture and sale of materials used in the operating room has always been part of B. Braun’s core business. On the one hand, sterile-packaged materials are used during an operation: cannulas, suture material or infusion tubes. The products are stored beforehand and then made available to those performing the operation. In addition, there are reusable resources, such as surgical instruments. These must be made up before the operation and then made ready for use again as quickly as possible. To do this, they must be manually disassembled, washed, thermally disinfected, and finally repacked in the correct configuration. B. Braun offers both the instruments and – as a service – the optimisation of the clinical processes required for reprocessing and sterile provision. Finally, B. Braun can also provide advice based on its many years of experience and support clinics in the effective use of the instruments.

Shaping the future: Setting new standards in sterile processing and OR supply

Intelligent communication instead of closed silos

Today, it is still a widespread standard that OR management, warehouse management, and reprocessing function together, but are only very inadequately linked with each other in terms of communication. This is where B. Braun Supply Solutions comes in: All systems are synchronised, while communication is made transparent. In concrete terms, this means that the core element is still OR management, i.e. the long- and medium-term planning of elective procedures. For this purpose, the demand is recorded via corresponding software and transmitted to the warehouse management. The required resources – and only these – are delivered to the operating room on schedule. This works because the warehouse no longer provides standard surgery sets, but assembles them according to need. The subsequent reprocessing is just as closely linked. As soon as the operation is finished, the contaminated instruments are collected and sterilised in a timely manner. The same applies to unused prostheses. Documentation, which today still has to be done manually and after the fact, is automatically recorded digitally. In short: All secondary processes connected to the operation are interlinked and can be viewed decentrally and, in some cases, on a mobile basis by all authorised persons. This means less waiting and less redundancy. Instead, everything is in the right place at the right time.

A strong partner

The partnership offered by B. Braun can be implemented in various levels of intensity. Even in the construction of new hospitals, and especially in the architectural planning of the sterile processing arena, B. Braun is on hand with expertise. New buildings offer the opportunity to fundamentally and sustainably mesh the complex processes between CSSD, warehouse, and operating room right from the start. But there is also a lot to optimise in already existing facilities. In addition to the intelligent IT solutions already mentioned, all relevant secondary processes must be coordinated: Macro and extra logistics, warehouse management, picking of surgical sets, in short: everything that is necessary for the supply of operating rooms. B. Braun plans, advises, and implements. The experience that has been and will be gained with each project will benefit all future ones. Because it's not just about good ideas – it’s also about implementing them precisely.
